Dementia Awareness
Be the victim… Imagine that all of your memories, the very memories that allow you to perceive your being, define
Our early childhood memories are often fomented by the freedom, independence and adventures that bicycling brings and often later in life the very last ones maintained by a failing mind. Out of this realization came Ride to Remember, a nonprofit effort using the power of cycling to unite communities and raise awareness for dementia and caregiver support.
We will use the passion and practicality that embodies all forms of cycling — please help us to stop the loss of so many selves to this degenerative disease.
Build enthusiasm among friends, family and business associates to garner support for the ride. Film the ride with the goal of assembling a documentary — interspersed with inspiring interviews of dementia sufferers, their families, health-care providers and researchers providing their personal stories and expertise in a cycling centric film — whose purpose would be to serve as an inspiration and information resource. And of course, aim to generate donations for dementia research and caregiver resources — directing donations to existing high efficiency dementia focused charities and support groups.
Hi, I’m Murph, a 60 year-old avid, but slow cyclist and pensive thinker, who loves when technology collides with and attempts to improve mechanical standards. True to my name “Murphy’s Law” applies to all that I endeavor. Enthused by anything with two wheels, I’m a passionate learner and would be creator.
